Read Southold’s student newspaper, The Sentinel

Sentinel - Fall 2013_Page_1Details about how Southold High School’s student council is preparing fun events for its classmates was the cover story in this year’s first issue of the Southold’s student newspaper, “The Sentinel.”

The article, by Liam Walker, explained what goes into planning student events like Spirit Day and Homecoming.

In addition, Southold School District Superintendent’s letter to the editor about senior pranks is the lead item on page 2 and student Gregory Quist wrote about the history behind the school’s senior prank tradition.

In September, five Southold High School students were accused of dumping a boat at the entrance of the school.

Profiles about new teachers and an update of the area’s NJROTC unit are also featured in the student paper, along with theater and sports.

The Sentinel, an award-winning newspaper, is published under the guidance of teacher James Stahl. Five student staffers and a student photographer worked on the first issue.
