Scott Robert Wilson

Former Southold resident Scott R. Wilson, 43, beloved husband of Miranda (Hufe) Wilson, originally from Southold, died peacefully in his Peabody, Mass., home Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, while in the comforting presence of his family.

Scott grew up in Downingtown, Pa., and graduated from Downingtown High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in ornamental horticulture from Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, Pa., and later earned a teaching degree in agricultural education from North Carolina State.

Scott and Miranda lived in Southold for five years, where he enjoyed a career as a grower of specialty plants, and he and Miranda operated the Tupelo Tree, a retail plant and garden supply shop. In Peabody, Scott worked for Northeast Nursery, with responsibility for business development. He also worked as a micro-technician and taught agricultural science in a middle school in Durham, N.C.

Scott had a spirit that was full of life, and he expressed that with his wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed an active lifestyle, participating in cross country and soccer in school and, as an adult, finished several marathons. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing with his late father-in-law, Warren Hufe, biking and hiking.

Scott was very creative, as both an accomplished artist and a horticultural designer. He touched many people in his life and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Miranda, with whom he shared 14 years of marriage; two sons, Oliver Warren, age 5, and Kai Robert, age 2; his parents, Bob and Eileen (Hulton) Wilson of Exton, Pa.; his brother Greg and his wife, Andra, of Santa Barbara, Calif., his brother Steve and his wife, Stefanie, of Coatesville, Pa., and his sister, Julianne Mills, and husband, Don, of Marlboro, Vt., as well as three nephews and two nieces.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather for a Life Celebration Service Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Calvary Fellowship, 95 West Devon Drive and Route 113, Downingtown, PA 19335, with refreshments and gathering immediately following the service.
