Margaret Jean Daniel

Margaret Jean Daniel of Peconic and West Islip died Dec. 28 at her Peconic home. She was 82.

She was born in London, England, Aug. 14, 1931, to Flora and Charles Bowles and came to America with her husband, Frank, as a newlywed in 1952.

Ms. Daniel was a homemaker who also worked as a department supervisor at South Oaks Hospital in Amityville, retiring in 1994.

Family members said she loved flowers and gardening and was a longtime member of the West Islip Sumpwams Garden Club, where she served as president and treasurer. She was a member and thrift-shop volunteer for Good Samaritan Hospital Guild, they said, and also loved to travel, visiting countries includingTurkey, China, Holland, Italy and France.

Predeceased by her husband and her sister, Joan, Ms. Daniel is survived by her daughter, Paula, of Peconic, and her son, Gregg, of Ormond Beach, Fla.

The family will receive visitors Sunday, Jan. 12, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons Funeral Home in West Islip, where a memorial service will take place at 3 p.m.
