James G. Minogue

James G. (Jerry) Minogue of Mattituck died Jan. 6, 2014, at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. He was 81. He had been a second generation photoengraver with the New York Daily News. 

Born April 11, 1932, in Brooklyn to James Leo and Adelaide (Reiss) Minogue, he served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 and was honorably discharged as a sergeant.

In 1965, he moved with his family to Bellerose Terrace, where he resided for 35 years. He had been a commander of the Bayside Power Squadron and a member of Freeport Yacht Club.

After moving to the North Fork in 1999, he became a member of the Peconic Bay Power Squadron and the Mattituck Gun Club and was active with North Fork Community Theatre and the Mattituck-Laurel Historical Society and Museums, where he once served as president.

Mr. Minogue was predeceased July 20, 2011, by his wife, Diana F. (née Marchese), whom he married in 1959. Left behind are three sons, Dennis, Richard and Evan; their wives, Joyce, Gina, and Beth; and his devoted granddaughters Sierra, Alexis, Gianna, Olivia, Mia and Julia.

Calling hours took place Jan. 9 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck, where funeral services were held Jan. 10, Monsignor Joseph W. Staudt officiating. Interment with U.S. Army honors was at Calverton National Cemetery.
