John J. Volinski

Former longtime East Marion resident John J. Volinski died Dec. 11, 2013, in Brooksville, Fla. He was 81.

He was born June 4, 1932, and lived most of his life on Shipyard Lane, also known locally as Volinski Lane, according to family members. Mr. Volinski was an honored fireman, serving the East Marion Fire Department for 50 years. Family members said he was known to all who loved him as “Poppa” and always had “a smile to spare and a heart of gold.” His granddaughter, Shanna, remarked that he would be “forever missed.”

Mr. Volinski is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia (née Reden); his brother William; his daughters, Dawn Diaz Rosa and Lori Jimenez; his grandchildren, Shanna Volinski, Michael Jimenez Jr. and James Van Brunt; and his great-grandchildren, Michael Jimenez III, Mackenzy McDaniel and Sebashton Jimenez.
