Phylis A. (Pam) Graeb

Longtime Cutchogue resident Phylis A. Graeb, known as Pam, passed away Dec. 27, 2013, at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, surrounded by family and friends. She was 79.

She was born Jan. 16, 1934, in McKeesport, Pa., to John and Catherine Mason. She married Robert Graeb June 6, 1953, in Mineola. Together they raised their four children in Mattituck before moving to Cutchogue, where she lived for over 20 years.

Until her passing, she was an active member of Mattituck Presbyterian Church, the East End Bowling League and Island’s End Golf and Country Club, where she proudly shot a hole-in-one. Pam was a charter member and past president of the East End Lions Club and Mattituck Lioness Club. While her children were growing up, she was involved in the PTA, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4-H and Mattituck Yacht Club. She had also been a business teacher at Eastern Suffolk BOCES in Riverhead.

Pam is survived by her children, John Graeb and his wife, Diane, Laurie Lechner and her husband, Kenneth, Pamela Doroski and her husband, Gene, and Thomas Graeb and his wife, Diane; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, sister and a great-grandson.

A memorial service was held Jan. 4 at Mattituck Presbyterian Church.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue.
