Girls Basketball: Big second quarter lifts Clippers over Stony Brook

CLIPPERS 43, BEARS 27

Forward Abby Scharadin scored 16 points and guard Justina Babcock added 11 to lead the Southold/Greenport high school girls basketball team to a 43-27 Suffolk County League VIII victory over host Stony Brook on Thursday night.

The Clippers (3-6, 3-1) outscored the Bears (1-6, 1-3), 14-6, in the second quarter to grab a 21-12 halftime advantage. Babcock scored 7 points during the quarter and Scharadin contributed 6 points.

Southold/Greenport forced the Bears into 30 turnovers.

Cari Gehring added 9 points for the winners.
