Frank Joseph Wolff Jr.

Frank Joseph Wolff Jr. of Cordova, Md., died Jan. 4, 2014, at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton. He was 82. 

He was born in Brooklyn Sept. 26, 1931, to Gertrude (Miller) and Frank Joseph Wolff Sr. He attended Cornell University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in agricultural education in 1953 and a Master of Science in education in 1955. He later earned his Master of Science in administration from City University of New York, where he was also an adjunct professor. In addition, Mr. Wolff served in the U.S. Army, retiring as a major.

He and his wife, Arlene, married Sept. 30, 1978, in Woodbury, Conn. They resided for 20 years in Dix Hills, where he worked at the Department of Education for the State of New York and as assistant superintendent for Nassau County Board of Education Services. The couple moved to Cordova, Md., in 1989.

Mr. Wolff is survived by his wife, Arlene; his children, Barbara Zaveski of Southold, Katherine Barry of Palm Coast, Fla., Julie Wolff of Huntington and Patrick Wolff of Cordova; his brother, James Wolff of Fly Creek, N.Y.; his sister, Janet Lowe of Ithaca; grandchildren Jillian Stahler, Erin Bednoski and Stephen Clacherty, all of Southold; two additional grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral service took place Jan. 9 at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home in Easton, Md., where a Masonic memorial service was conducted by Coats Lodge No. 102 AF&AM Masonic Lodge. Burial will be at a later date in Woodbury, Conn.
