The Mattituck-Cutchogue School District colors of blue and gold will be reflected in its new track, school officials confirmed this week.

High school principal Shawn Petretti said Tuesday that the online poll has ended and the option of a blue track with gold stripes beat out five other color choices listed on the district website.

As of 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, the district’s poll results showed the school’s colors winning with 142 votes. A brick red track with white lines — the most popular choice among high school tracks — came in second with 36 votes. Other choices included: blue with white lines, brick red with gold lines, green with gold lines and green with white lines.

Voters approved a $925,000 bond in October to replace the defunct cinder track with a new facility suitable for the team to host meets. The track is expected to be completed by the end of August.
