UPDATE: Alleged thief pleads guilty to stealing jewels

Update 2: Mr. Trzaskalski pleaded guilty to both grand larceny and petit larceny charges  at his arraignment in county court on Jan. 9. He was released on his own recognizance and is due to be sentenced next January.

Update: Southold Police Chief Martin Flatley said that Mr. Trzaskalski was held on $25,000 bail, and remanded to Suffolk County Correctional Facility.

Original story: A repairman allegedly swiped $50,000 worth of jewelry from a Greenport residence in November, Southold Town police said.

Adam Trzaskalski, 31, of Oakdale was arrested and charged with second-degree grand larceny, a felony, police announced this morning.

Mr. Trzaskalski reportedly worked inside the home Nov. 16 when the thefts occurred, police said. Southold detectives, with the assistance of Suffolk County Police detectives, recovered numerous items from the theft, police said.

Police did not reveal the specific home that was robbed.

Mr. Trzaskalski was held at Southold headquarters awaiting arraignment, police said.
