Johnnie Sue Reich

Greenport resident Johnnie Sue Reich, formerly of Peconic Retreat in Cutchogue, died Jan. 11 at San Simeon by the Sound in Greenport. She was 89. 

She was born Nov. 15, 1924, in Center, Texas, to John and Lillian Peacock and had served as a neonatal nurse during World War II. Recently she had worked as a hairdresser and as a bus driver for the Patchogue-Medford School District. Family members said she was a member of Greenport Homemakers and enjoyed doing crafts.

Ms. Reich is survived by her daughter, Carol Merlo of Virginia; her sons, Norman, of East Marion, and Michael, of Southold; her sister, Mary Lowe of Texas; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday, Jan. 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue, where a service will take place at 3:30 p.m.
