From a snowstorm to record-low temperatures, the North Fork has experienced an entire winter worth of arctic weather over the past week. As the temperatures finally climb today, providing some relief to the frigid cold, residents won’t be entirely in the clear.

The National Weather Service issued a flood watch beginning at 11 a.m. today and lasting through tonight. The Weather Service predicts 1 1/2 to 2 inches of rain today as a low pressure system from Canada drags a cold front through the region this afternoon.

Low-lying areas that are prone to flooding could likely experience problems.

Patchy fog is also expected to persist. A wind advisory is also in effect from noon to 10 p.m.

There is good news: the high temperature today is expected to hit 55 degrees.

The rain should clear by tomorrow and sunny skies are predicted for Sunday with a high of 45.
