State police reports: Mattituck driver crashed car while drunk

A driver from Mattituck who crashed his car in Flanders was arrested for driving while intoxicated last week, state police said.

John Edwards, 59, was involved in a one-car collision on County Road 104 Friday, according to a state police report. He was arrested after the accident by state troopers and released with an upcoming court date in Southampton Town court, police said.

• A Mattituck man faces driving while intoxicated and a felony drugs charge after he was allegedly caught with narcotics while driving in Riverhead Saturday, state police said.

Raymond Neighley, 56, was stopped on County Road 105 for speeding and having an “inadequate headlight,” according to a police statement. Troopers found Mr. Neighley was intoxicated and “was in possession of narcotics” and marijuana, police said.

He was arrested and charged with DWI, felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, according to the statement.

Mr. Neighley was taken to Suffolk County jail; his arraignment information was not immediately available.
