Southold police are searching for a person who attempted to break into a retail store in Greenport last Wednesday night, according to a town police report.

Officers responded to the Front Street business around midnight after receiving a report of an activated alarm, the report stated.

Upon arrival, police said, officers discovered that the front door knob had been drilled out and there were pry marks on the door frame.

The store’s manager confirmed that the damage was new since the last time she had been there, according to the report. Nothing was taken from the business, police said.
