Cops: Months after DWI, man found with fake license

A Greenport man who was driving with a fake license, was arrested early Sunday on an outstanding warrant in connection with a prior arrest, Southold Town Police said.

Roberto Garrido, 27, was taken into custody around 12:30 a.m. after police found him sitting in his vehicle outside his Fifth Street residence with a fake Guatemalan driver’s license, according to a police report. After taking him to police headquarters, Mr. Garrido admitted to police the license was a fake, according to an arrest report.

Mr. Garrido also had a warrant out for his arrest after being charged with driving drunk in Cutchogue in September, police said.

Mr. Garrido was transported to headquarters and held for arraignment, according to the report. In addition to the warrant, he’s charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, a misdemeanor, for having the fake license, police said.
