John J. Shelly Jr.

Former Southold resident John J. Shelly Jr. died Feb. 8 in Columbus, Ohio. He was 36.

He was born Feb. 19, 1977, in Riverhead and attended Southold High School. Mr. Shelly enjoyed fishing and NASCAR, according to family members, and was an avid New York Jets fan. 

Predeceased by his mother, Joann Dean, Mr. Shelly is survived by his daughter, Katie; his son, Ellis; his father, John; his stepmother, Lori; his half-sister, Charlene; his grandparents, Barbara and Lee Gordon; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A private cremation was handled by Schoendinger Funeral Home in Columbus, Ohio.
