Dorothy Winiarz

Dorothy (Baranowski) Winiarz, known to family and friends as Dot, of Kauneonga Lake, N.Y. passed peacefully March 24, 2014, at Catskill Regional Hospital in Harris, N.Y.  The former Mattituck resident was 81 years old. 

Born Feb. 15, 1933, in Maspeth, N.Y., she and her husband Mike were co-owners of North Fork Liquor Store in Mattituck.  She was a member of the Mattituck Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and Bethelites Ladies Fundraisers of Bethel, N.Y.

Predeceased by her husband Mike Winiarz; a son and daughter-in-law Michael, Jr. and Joann of New Jersey, she is survived by her loving family, Diane and Kevin Monahan of Kauneonga Lake, Susan and Tom Hansen of Laurel, Del. and Marie Winiarz and Tom Buchholz of Mattituck; her sisters, Josie Cybulski of Bethpage and Eileen Mrozinski of North Carolina; her sister-in-law, Mary Berdinka of Mattituck; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Florence Baranowski and Tessie Krammer and her brother, Stanley Baranowski.

The family will receive visitors Friday, March 28, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck.  The funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 29, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church in Cutchogue. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cutchogue.
