Neighborhood News: Rotary Club’s annual chicken and ribs dinner

The Soundview Restaurant in Greenport will host the Rotary Club of Southold’s annual chicken and ribs dinner.

With spring comes Old Town Arts & Crafts Guild’s 2014 juried art competition, with an opening reception set for Friday, March 28, 5 to 7 p.m. The show and sale run March 29-30 and April 5-6, Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. Entry categories include fine art, photography and mixed media. Artists may enter up to three items per category at $15 apiece. Drop-off is March 27, 1 to 4 p.m. and March 28, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call 734- 6382 or visit oldtownguild.com.

Support the Rotary Club of Southold’s annual chicken and ribs dinner (salmon may be substituted) Tuesday, April 22, noon to 8 p.m. at the Soundview Restaurant in Greenport. Proceeds support: scholarships for local high school students, Maureen’s Haven, CAST, Eastern Long Island Hospital, Boy Scouts, Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck and more. Tickets are $20 (gratuity not included). Congratulations to seventh-graders Miranda Annunziata, Aidan Reilly and Bayleigh Rienecker and ninth-grader Angel Hernandez, who were inadvertently omitted from the Mattituck High School second-quarter honor roll list.

The Friends of Cutchogue New Suffolk Library invite you to enjoy a “do-as-you-please” day in the city Saturday, May 3. The bus will leave the library at 8 a.m., making stops at Union Square, 23rd Street and 6th Avenue, the theatre district, The Museum of Natural History and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The return trip will depart at 6 p.m. from the New York Public Library at 42nd Street. Non-refundable $25 tickets may be purchased at the library.

Congratulations to our NJROTC cadets for winning first place overall in the Varsity and NS1 divisions at the Freeport Drill competition! Congregation Tifereth Israel in Greenport invites you to a traditional Passover Seder, Monday and Tuesday, April 14 and 15, at 7 p.m., led by Rabbi Gadi Capela. This week at Cutchogue New Suffolk Library: Terrific Two’s & Three’s offers Windy Days Music & Movement, at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 20; registration requested, 734-6360. The Thursday Afternoon Movie at 1:30 p.m. on March 20, will be “Gravity” (PG-13); no registration needed. Registration is needed for Animal Egg Storytime & Hunt on Tuesday, March 25, for ages 6-10 from 4:15 to 5 p.m. But it’s not necessary for either the Civil War Series presentation on “The Northern Homefront,” also on the 25th at 6:30, or a free Zumba Toning class on Thursday, March 27, at 6:30 p.m. (Please bring toning sticks or one-pound weights and water.)
