Eleanor J. Rempe

Longtime Greenport resident, Eleanor J. Rempe, formerly of Riverhead, died March 28. She was 84.

She was born Dec. 17, 1929 in Riverhead to Annette (Urbanski) and James Hubbard Jr. and graduated from Riverhead High School.

Ms. Rempe was a member of St. Agnes Church in Greenport. Family members said she was an avid reader, who also enjoyed cooking.

Ms. Rempe was predeceased by her husband, Fred, March 16. She is survived by her sons Fred Jr., Gary and Richard; her sister, Mary Ignasiak of Riverhead; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her siblings, James Hubbard Jr., Annette Madzelan, Joe Hubbard and John Hubbard.

The family received visitors March 31 at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. A funeral Mass took place April 1 at St. Agnes R.C. Church in Greenport. Burial took place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cutchogue.

Memorial donations may be made to East End Hospice or Dominican Sisters.
