James P. Manning

Former New Suffolk resident James P. Manning passed away peacefully March 25, 2014, in Palm Beach, Fla. He was 87. 

He was born Nov. 26, 1926, in Brooklyn to Thomas and Helen Manning. James was a graduate of New York University and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Prior to retirement, Mr. Manning was the owner of J.P. Manning, Inc. in New York and Sport’s Socks Ireland in Cahersiveen, Ireland. He was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Palm Beach.

James was predeceased by his first wife of over 54 years, Eileen Grady Manning, and his brothers, John and Thomas. He is survived by his three daughters, Lynn, Mary and Laurie; his three grandchildren, Tarah, James and Morgan; one sister, Helen Enigan; and his current wife, Carole.

Services were held in Florida. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Edward’s Catholic Church restoration project, 144 North County Road, Palm Beach, FL 33480.
