Grammy Award nominee and Southold resident Brady Rymer performed at the nation’s capitol Monday for the White House’s annual Easter celebration.

Mr. Rymer and his backup singer/accordionist, Claudia Mussen, rocked the South Lawn with their hit song “Jump Up (It’s a Good Day)” during the White House’s annual Easter Egg Roll.

The children’s tune was recorded specifically for the “Songs for a Healthier America” album, which was co-produced by First Lady Michelle Obama’s Partnership for a Healthier America.

“Standing in front of the White House [and] playing our music was amazing,” Mr. Rymer said after the performance. “It was good to be there promoting healthy living. That is what a lot of our music is about.”

The theme for the 136th annual White House Easter Egg Roll was “Hop into Healthy, Swing into Shape” in an effort to promote children’s health and wellness.

More than 30,000 people attended the event, which featured live music, sports, cooking stations and storytelling.

Other personal appearances at the event included Jim Carrey, Ariana Grande, Robert Griffin III, Debby Ryan (from Disney Channel’s “Jessie”) and Cookie Monster.

“We think this is the best one yet,” Mr. Rymer said about Monday’s performance. “What better place to play than the White House?”

Mr. Rymer was nominated for a Grammy in 2009 and has worked as a professional musician for more than 13 years. He has performed with several rock legends, including Bob Dylan, Dave Matthews and the Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir.

After becoming a parent, Mr. Rymer became interested in creating children’s music and later formed the critically acclaimed music group Brady Rymer and the Little Band That Could in 2004. He and his wife, Bridget, also founded their record label, Bumblin’ Bee Records.

In December, Mr. Rymer and his band raised $20,000 through a Kickstarter campaign to record their seventh album, “Just Say Hi!”, which features the group’s trademark singalong songs.

The album is set to debut June 17.

Mr. Rymer is scheduled to perform at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 26 at Jamesport Meeting House. Tickets are available at Duffy’s Deli in Jamesport and cost $15 for adults and $10 for children.
