Second big power outage this week hits North Fork

Original story: Another power outage has wiped out electricity to a wide region of the North Fork, knocking out several traffic lights along Main Road during the busy Memorial Day weekend. 

PSEG Long Island is reporting more than 1,100 customers are without power in the Jamesport/Mattituck region.

The power outage happened around 1 p.m. PSEG is reporting an estimated restoration time of 3 p.m.

This is the second major power outage to hit the area this week. Nearly 2,000 customers lost power during the afternoon Wednesday for about an hour.

It’s unclear what caused today’s outage.
