TUCKERS 16, KNIGHTS 15

The Mattituck/Southold/Greenport high school girls lacrosse team prepared for its first appearance ever in the Suffolk County playoffs with a win on Tuesday afternoon.

Audrey Hoeg led the way with six goals and two assists as the Tuckers recorded a 16-15 victory over Elwood/John Glenn in a Division II game in East Northport.

Katie Hoeg added four goals and two assists and Patricia Brisotti contributed four goals and an assist for the Tuckers (9-6, 8-6).

The Tuckers enjoyed a 16-12 advantage with 2 minutes 33 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, but had to sweat this one out as Glenn (6-10, 5-9) scored three unanswered goals to close the gap.

Mattituck, which is in its fifth season, will play a first-round Class B game at Shoreham-Wading River at noon Saturday.
