Mary Ann Thilburg

Longtime Greenport resident Mary Ann Thilburg died at her home April 29. She was 101. 

She was born March 31, 1913, in Greenport to Alexsander and Stephine Bonkoski and attended school at the school house on Oregon Road in Cutchogue. Ms. Thilburg married Richard Carl Thilburg Nov. 18, 1937, at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church in Cutchogue.

Ms. Thilburg worked on farms in Orient and on Tabor Farm in East Marion, for Braun’s Seafood in Cutchogue and Blue Point Oyster Company in East Marion and for the Hazeltine Corporation in Riverhead.

Family members said she was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and cooking.

Ms. Thilburg was predeceased by her husband, March 27, 1960; her daughter Mary Jane; and her son Richard Carl. She is survived by her son Carl Richard of Kissimmee, Fla.; her daughter Clementine Jane Rosa of Greenport; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by five sisters and five brothers.

The family received visitors May 1 at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. A funeral Mass took place May 2, at St. Agnes R. C. Church in Greenport, officiated by Father Tom. Burial took place at the church cemetery.
