Three DWIs reported overnight in Southold Town

Three driving while intoxicated arrests were reported in Southold Town Saturday night into Sunday morning, including one that led to a resisting arrest charge, town police said.

Gabriel Palacio, 28, of Dix Hills was stopped at the corner of First and Front streets in Greenport for using a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle, when an officer found he was driving under the influence of marijuana, police said.

While being placed under arrest following the stop, which occurred shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday, police said Mr. Palacio “became combative and did resist being placed under arrest.”

He was also found to be in possession of marijuana, police said.

He was arrested, transported to police headquarters and held for arraignment. He faces charges of DWI-Drugs, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of marijuana, and a violation for using a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle, police said.

• A pair of motorcyclists were arrested for DWI following a traffic stop along Route 25 near Laurel Lake Road in Laurel late Saturday night, police said.

Jose Villanueva, 21, of Bay Shore and Joseph Bauer, 21, of Islip were spotted riding side by side along Main Road in Mattituck and leaving their lane of travel shortly before 10 p.m., police said.

Both men were stopped and found to be intoxicated, police said.

They were placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters, where they were processed and held for arraignment in Southold town Justice Court, police said.

• Marco Gregorio, 30, of Mattituck was observed operating a 2002 Nissan eastbound on County Road 48 near Alvah’s Lane in Cutchogue when he was stopped for failing to maintain his lane of travel shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday, police said.

He was arrested after failing several roadside sobriety tests, police said.

Mr. Gregorio was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and held for arraignment, police said.
