When you’re a Navy officer and your sibling is in officer training school, you don’t get to see each other very often. When you do it’s always a special time.

Mattituck High School graduates Stephen and Sarah Conlin know all about this.

The pair was recently reunited along with other family members for the ROTC ceremony in which Sarah was commissioned Ensign, a Navy Rank, at Worcester Polytechnic Institute May 17.

LTJG Stephen Conlin was in from the Naval Air Station in Lemoore, California to participate in the pinning ceremony.

Sarah was the only female Navy Midshipman in the WPI graduating class of approximately 900 students. WPI is a member of the  Navy Consortium, housed at The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester.

The Conlins, both of whom served as Battalion Commanders of the Southold NJROTC, have a history of community service. Stephen was American Legion NY Cadet of the Year in 2008 and Sarah once launched a Cell Phones for Soldiers campaign collecting over 1,000 cell phones across Southold Town.
