The Southold-Mattituck-Greenport NJROTC took first place in its overall division at a May 17 competition in Mastic Beach.

Senior Naval Science Instructor Major Bill Grigonis said it was the first contest of its kind where each high school that competed at William Floyd had its senior cadets do the judging.

“I am extremely proud of the senior cadets who were judges for this competition and also of the junior leadership who took charge and made it happen,” he said. “This event was one of the best we have attended.”
