Jamesport firefighters, with the help of several nearby fire departments, doused a fire that sparked in a house attic in Jamesport Wednesday afternoon.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were called to the house on Herricks Lane just after 2 p.m., said Fire Chief Sean McCabe. The Jamesport volunteers were able to contain the fire to the attic of the building, while Mattituck firefighters were on stand-by to provide support.

Cutchogue and Riverhead Fire Departments also assisted. Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps Chief Joseph Oliver said no one was home in the house at the time of the fire.

Fire officials said it appears the fire was caused by an electrical problem, though the full cause of the fire is still under investigation.
