Cops: Drunk driver got into ‘road rage’ argument in Mattituck

An alleged drunk driver with numerous suspensions on his license was arrested Sunday afternoon after getting into an argument with another driver in Mattituck in a “road rage” incident, Southold Town police said. 

Police said 50-year-old Dirk Blank of New Suffolk got into a “verbal dispute” with another driver about 1 p.m. on County Road 48 near Shirley Road. Police pulled over Mr. Blank’s car and interviewed him about the incident, police said.

According to a police statement, officers found that Mr. Blank was drunk, and that his license had been suspended or revoked on seven separate occasions.

Mr. Blank was arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed driving, both misdemeanors.
