A Mattituck man who had an active warrant out for his arrest was taken into custody Monday after being caught driving with a suspended license, Southold Police said.

Cesar Chavez-Ruiz, 28, was stopped for a traffic violation on Route 25 in Mattituck at 9:17 a.m. and a computer check revealed that his driver license was suspended, police said.

A second computer check, according to police, found that Mr. Chavez-Ruiz has an active warrant from Southold Town Justice court and was also found to have an Immigration Customs and Enforcement hold.

He was arrested and taken to Southold Police headquarters awaiting morning arraignment.

Mr. Chavez-Ruiz was previously charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in September.
