Freshen up

Get your palates ready: It’s the “premier event for the opening of the summer season,” said Oysterponds Historical Society executive director Clare Adams. And it’s happening this weekend.

North Fork Fresh will take place Saturday at the historical society’s grounds on Village Lane from 5 to 7 p.m. More than 50 local purveyors have lined up to donate food, drinks and more to the benefit, which will feature live music for the first time. Tickets cost $100 and can be purchased at oysterpondshistoricalsociety.org.

“This is a great effort to showcase the agriculture and the chefs we have here on the North Fork,” Ms. Adams said.

Wine and pink sailboats

Raise a glass to breast cancer research Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Mattebella Vineyards in Southold, which is hosting a fundraiser for the Pink Sailboat Fund.

One hundred percent of donations to the organization will go toward breast cancer research being conducted by Dr. George Plitas at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Tickets cost $15 and can purchased by emailing [email protected]. Admission includes a glass of Mattebella wine and hors d’oeuvres. There will also be a silent auction of artwork by John Aicher Jr., Ron Leach and other Long Island artists.

12th annual 3-on-3 tourney

There’s still plenty of time to dust off those old Air Jordans and sign up for this year’s Timothy J. Casey Memorial Basketball Tournament July 19th at Mattituck High School.

The Timothy J. Casey Memorial Fund was founded in 2002 after the 21-year-old Mattituck man died unexpectedly of a heart virus. The benefit tournament has been held every year since, raising close to $100,000 for a number of other nonprofits. It has also established scholarships in Mr. Casey’s name at Mattituck High School and The University of Scranton.

The tournament has several divisions: age 14 and up, high school, college, and two adult tourneys. The cost is $60 per team. Sign up by at the event or by emailing [email protected].
