Artbeat: Auction donations, pysanky and more

Auction donations sought: Art, antiques, goods and services are sought for a July 26 auction hosted by Peconic Green Growth. 

The nonprofit organization aims to improve water quality on the East End, so water-related items are also welcome.

The auction is set for Saturday, July 26, at Poquatuck Hall in Orient, with 100 percent of the income benefiting PGG.

Funds will also be raised through a pop-up bookstore, which will open in conjunction with a pre-auction bid party at 5 p.m.

Saturday, July 12, at Art Sites gallery in Riverhead. The library of Bob Peters has been donated by his estate and includes books on contemporary, historic and ethnographic art as well as archaeology and history. Auction items will be on view through July 24.

So far, auction items include art by Gary Bartoloni, Bennett Blackburn, Andrea Cote, Janet Culbertson, Bryan Landesberg, John Levien, Debbi Ma, Scott McIntire, Oscar Newman, Ben Schonzeit, Francine Tint and Caroline Waloski.

• Pysanky artist Hannah Ritter of Hampton Bays will give a free demonstration of the traditional Ukrainian art of egg decorating from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at the East End Arts gallery in Riverhead. Ms. Ritter’s work will be available for sale.

Pysanky uses layers of wax and dye to create complex designs and patterns on eggs.

• “Sanctuary,” new works on canvas by Danielle Malmet Rodger, will be shown from July 4 to Sept. 1 at Greenport Harbor Brewing Company.

In a press release, Ms. Rodger said, “The works are individual retreats on canvas which exude calm, balanced with a bright energy evoked by the environs of the North Fork.”

Ms. Rodger recently published “Adventures Through the North Fork: Autumn,” the first in a four-part picture-book series.

An artist’s reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 24.

• Gallery Crossing gallery in Peconic will present oil paintings by Susanne Corbelletta and Aubrey Grainger from July 3 to 14. An artists’ reception is set for 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 5.

The exhibit features “scenes from local surroundings, capturing the unique light of the East End,” according to a release.
