Health Beat: Peconic Landing announces employee of the month

• August’s employee of the month at Peconic Landing in Greenport is Jennifer Cardi, who has been with the lifecare community in a variety of roles for the past four years. She currently chairs the teamwork committee, which sponsors and coordinates events for Peconic Landing employees and their families.

In a release, executive vice president Greg Garrett credited Ms. Cardi for her “can- do attitude” and said she “brings a positive attitude to work every day.” He added that she “strives and succeeds at continually improving whatever she is involved [in].”

• Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead will host an epilepsy support group Monday, Aug. 11, from 7 to 8 p.m. in conference room A on the second floor. The group provides encouragement, acceptance, comfort and empowerment. Patients, friends and family are all welcome. • San Simeon by the Sound Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation has named Frederick ‘Fritz’ Roemer their August employee of the month. The nursing department’s 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. supervisor, Mr. Roemer worked at San Simeon from 2002 to 2008, left to be an emergency room nurse, then returned in October 2013. He “quickly and easily assumed his role as supervisor,” Betsy Dzenkowski, assistant director of nursing, said in a statement, calling him “a strong supervisor who is reliable and fair.”

“I get great satisfaction from helping others,” said Mr. Roemer, who is also a volunteer advanced life support emergency medical technician with the East Marion Fire Department.
