Greenport is expanding its social media presence after dozens of residents bashed the Village Board for its lack of communication during a recent village-wide blackout.
Greenport Village joined the social media website Twitter under the name [email protected] in hopes of reaching out to a more tech-savvy audience, according to the board’s Sept. 15 meeting agenda. The idea of creating an account was first brought up last month after residents complained that officials were providing updates about the power outage in a timely fashion.
The board is expected to discuss its new Twitter account and other public relations efforts during its meeting at 6 p.m. tonight at the Third Street Fire station.
