Arthur Lane

Lifetime Greenport resident Arthur “Buck” Lane died Sept. 14 at Eastern Long Island Hospital. He was 90. 

He was born Sept. 9, 1924, in Southampton. Mr. Lane served in the U.S. Army in 1944 and worked as an animal handler on Plum Island. After retiring from Plum Island, he worked for Greenport Village and Claudio’s.

Family members said he loved to work and enjoyed working on different types of vehicles.

Mr. Lane was predeceased by his son, Arthur, and his daughter Mary and is survived by his wife Mary (née Ewell) Lane, also of Greenport; his daughter, Linda Lane of Fla.; his sister, Alvania Maston of Maryland; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Thursday, Sept. 18, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue. A funeral service will take place Friday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m. at Clinton Memorial AME Zion Church in Greenport. Cremation will be private.
