On Tuesday, voters approved Mattituck-Laurel Free Library’s $1.3 million spending plan by a wide margin.

Assistant director Jeffrey Walden said Wednesday the 2015 spending plan passed by a vote of 56 to 10. Mattituck-Laurel Free Library’s 2015 budget is $1.349 million — a $41,000 increase from its $1.308 million budget in 2014, he said.

Mr. Walden said the total tax increase for Mattituck and Laurel residents is $2.58 for every thousand dollars of assessed value. For the average household, this equates to an increase of $20.64 for the year, he said.

Floyd Memorial Library in Greenport will hold its budget vote Tuesday, Sept. 30.

The library, which includes voters from both the Greenport and Oysterponds school districts, is proposing a $1 million 2015 budget that carries a 1.46 percent tax rate increase. The tax rate for both districts is $34.046 for every thousand dollars of assessed value, according to the proposed budget. The average resident will pay $204 for the year, according to the proposed 2015 spending plan. The vote will be held in the library’s meeting room for both school districts from 2 to 8 p.m. All registered voters in Greenport, East Marion and Orient are eligible to vote.
