Residents will go to the polls today to vote on Floyd Memorial Library’s proposed $1.01 million budget that reflects an increase of about $19,000 over the current spending plan.

Library director Lisa Richland said the 2015 budget carries an estimated 1.46 percent tax levy increase, or $19,227, which is under the state mandated 1.56 percent tax cap.

The budget increase is needed due to rising costs of library materials, as well as slight increases in health insurance and salaries, Ms. Richland said.

“Everything is going up a little bit,” she said. “We’re committed to providing services for the community while being very careful with spending.”

Polls will be opened between 2 to 8 p.m. in the library meeting room for both school districts.
