TUCKERS 6, PANTHERS 1

When a high school boys soccer team has the wealth of talent that Mattituck has, there’s only one thing to do: spread the wealth.

The Tuckers sure did that on Monday. Six players scored and six assisted as the Tuckers picked up their seventh straight win, 6-1, over Babylon.

Carlos Campos, Kaan Ilgin, Mario Arreola, Kevin Diffley, Brian Doherty and Dan Fedun found the net for the Tuckers (10-2, 9-1 in Suffolk County League VII) at Mattituck High School’s Coach Robert Muir Athletic Fields. Ilgin also provided an assist, as did John Batuello, James Hayes, Walter Jacob, Erik Schwartz and Ryan Foster.

Mattituck’s hopes for a shared shutout by Ben Knowles and Nick Vitolano were spoiled 33 seconds from the end when a blast by Mateo Acosta deflected off Mattituck’s Matt Carter and sailed into the goal.

The Tuckers outshot Babylon (3-9-1, 3-6) by 18-4 and put 12 shots on goal.
