• “A Recent Series,” an exhibit of abstract painting by Andrew Masino, is on view Oct. 23 to Nov. 10 at Gallery Crossing in Peconic. An artist’s reception will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25.

Mr. Masino retired after 34 years as an art educator. Shortly thereafter, the Sept. 11 attacks took place. He said in a press release, “That day threw me for a loop and it took a full year to find a way to express myself in a different way. … I chose the abstract universe because of the challenge and freedom it offered me — the challenge to delve into a universe and see what happens along the journey. … Abstraction has renewed my ability to go on and brought back joy in painting.”

Call for artists: Work is sought for the eighth annual ‘10×10=100’ art show and sale to benefit North Fork Environmental Council. The first board is free; two additional boards may be purchased for $7 each.
