The Southold Town Highway Department is providing free curbside pickup of yard waste starting next month.

Crews will begin collecting leaves on Nov. 17 and the Town is advising all resident to have their bagged leaves ready at curbside prior to that date. As always, the leaves must be contained in biodegradable leaf bags, which can be found in most local hardware and grocery stores. Each bag typically holds up to 60 pounds.

Unlike spring clean up, the Town’s fall service does not include pickup of branches or brush. Stumps will not be accepted, either.

However, from Nov. 1 through Nov. 30 residents may drop off brush and branches free of charge at the Cutchogue Transfer Station. Leaves are accepted at the Transfer Station’s compost site year-round.
