To the editor:

Being the principal of Mattituck-Cutchogue Junior/Senior High School allows me the privilege of being surrounded by students, families and community members on various occasions throughout the school year. One of my fondest memories will certainly be the homecoming festivities of Friday, Sept. 26.

I wish to thank so many people within the Mattituck, Cutchogue, and Laurel communities for making the track dedication, pep rally, bonfire, and Tucker Bowl a truly special event for everyone in attendance. The Athletic Booster Club, along with the help of the Mattituck Lions Club, stepped up to assist in the planning of the evening’s events as well as cooking and providing refreshments for all who attended. I would also like to extend my appreciation to Mattituck Fire Department for their expertise and for keeping our students and families safe, while creating the highlight of the evening with the bonfire. To the families of Cutchogue East and especially members of the Class of 2027, watching you run the commemorative lap gave everyone a glimpse of our future. To the Class of 2015, Student Council members, SADD Club members, NJROTC, Select Chorus, and all students and faculty who came out to celebrate the newest addition to our school, thank you for always making me proud.

Lastly, to the community. Without your never-ending support for our students and our school, we would have had nothing to celebrate. The track will now be a hub of our town. A place where people of all ages will enjoy walking and running for years to come. Thank you for an evening that proves together we make a difference!
