Norma Louise Grzesik died at her Greenport home Oct. 26, 2014, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born the first of three children, to Armand and Laura Boule Janson, Nov. 25, 1925 in Brooklyn. Norma married Stefan Grzesik in 1948 and shortly after, they purchased property in Greenport on L.I. Sound, summering there until 1983, when they retired. At that time, they moved from their permanent residence in Lindenhurst to their summer home in Greenport.

Norma and Stefan spent their “golden years” enjoying many family gatherings and the beautiful sunsets over the Sound. Norma loved reading, needlework, gardening, playing cards, talking to her grandchildren and Skyping on her iPad with her great-grandson.
She was an active volunteer at San Simeon by the Sound and also at the Dominican Sisters thrift store.

Norma was a member of St. Agnes Church in Greenport for 62 years where she was a Eucharistic minister and member of the Rosary Alter Society. She enjoyed having lunches and playing cards with her friends. Norma was also a member of the Red Hat Society, treasurer of the Greenport Homemakers and volunteered her time the the Friends of Floyd Memorial Library.

She is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Stefan, her sister, Eileen Kuchinski and her brother, Lee Janson. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Gordon and son-in-law, Bob Gordon; her son, Stephen Grzesik and daughter-in-law, Donna Grzesik; four grandchildren, Cindy and Matthew Grzesik, and Michael and Eric Gordon; a granddaughter-in-law, Andy Gordon; and one great-grandson, Graham Gordon.

She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

A memorial service will be held Dec. 20 at 11:30 a.m. at St Agnes R.C. Church in Greenport. Memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the American Breast Cancer Foundation or Stony Brook University Hospital Cancer Center.
