Philip Weiss

Philip “Jeff” Weiss, 86 of Cutchogue and Baldwin died Nov. 5.  He was 86. 

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Jeff graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School and Polytechnic Institute (now New York University Polytechnic School of Engineering). He worked his entire life, alongside his two brothers, building the family company now known as Weiss Instruments, Inc. Jeff was a leader in many industry groups and received the Life Time Achievement Award of Fluids Control Institute in 2009.  He was also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and served on the standards committee for temperature and pressure instruments.

Jeff was the beloved husband of the late Lois (née Meyer) and the late Kathleen (née Kelly); the loving father of Meredith Weiss of Cutchogue and Isabel Wacker of Brooklyn and Cutchogue; the adored grandfather of Evan and Logan Forsberg of California, Skye Forsberg of Merrick, Laura Wacker of S. Norwalk, Conn. and Lillian Wacker of Brooklyn; and the great-grandfather of Ava and Jack Forsberg.

The family received visitors Nov. 7 and 8 at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue, where a funeral service was held Nov. 7. Cremation was private.
