Southold News: A wonderful production of ‘Aladdin’

There are just a few birthdays this week. Jen Jaklevic blows out candles on Nov. 27; Dominick Giovaniello and Dylan Claussen on Nov. 28; and Matt Reilly celebrates on Dec. 9.

Southold Music Boosters have a unique limited edition Christmas ornament on sale NOW! The red ornament has the front of the school imprinted beautifully in white. What a great gift for those who grew up here and moved away. They are $10 each and supplies are limited. Please contact the music department at the school.

Congratulations to the sixth-graders who put on a wonderful production of “Aladdin.” Thank you to Mrs. Kelli Baumann for all her hard work with the students.

The annual candlelight tour and tree lighting hosted by Southold Historical Society is this Friday, Nov. 28. The tour of the historical buildings on Main Street, across from the firehouse, is from 3 to 6 p.m., with the lighting of the tree at the Ann Currie-Bell House at 5. Come see Santa and the elves, too!

Southold Historical Society will host its first-ever holiday fair on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Peconic recreation center. The event will offer more than just shopping. Come on down from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to see the specially selected and screened vendors.

Southold Town Animal Shelter is always in need. One such need is newspaper. Call 765-1811 to arrange to drop off your unneeded newspapers.

My heart is aching for the Auer family. Beautiful Ericka died at the all-too-young age of 18. Please join me in making a donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at Help fund a cure.

As all the college students come home for the long weekend, take a quiet moment to be grateful. Grateful for your family. Grateful for the food on your table. Grateful for your job. Grateful for your health. I know this may seem preachy to many of you, but I think it is so easy to get caught up in the what don’t I have or the I wish I had that. Stop the hustle and rushing and craziness of your everyday life and JUST BREATHE. Life is too short, often much too short, to not take stock and find peace.

My next due date is Saturday, Dec. 6, no later than 8 p.m. I wish you and yours a happy Thanksgiving. May you find peace in your hearts.
