Art Beat: A Port of Views opens Dec. 28

“A Port of Views,’ an exhibition by Andrea Cote of Flanders, will open with a reception at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, at Floyd Memorial Library in Greenport.

The exhibit is a “site-specific art project for the Village of Greenport,” according to a press release. It will include photography and silkscreens portraying the eyes and stories of Greenport families who have lived in the village for several generations. Those featured include the White, Horton, Watkins, Costello and Tasker families. Ms. Cote previously presented “Eyes on Main Street,” a multimedia public art project in downtown Riverhead.

The library exhibit will continue through Feb. 7. A related interactive sculpture is also proposed for summer 2015 in Greenport’s Mitchell Park.
