Cops: Man was riding dirt bike without license

A helmetless Mattituck man with a revoked driver’s license was arrested Friday after police observed him riding an unregistered and uninsured dirt bike on Pike Street, Southold Town police said. 

Lawrence Conner, 22, was charged with misdemeanor unclicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He had a previous DWI conviction, police said.

The incident occurred at the corner of Wickham Avenue shortly before noon Friday. He was released on $100 bail and is expected to return to court at a later date.
