Anthony Thomas Forosich

Anthony Thomas Forosich of Southold died Jan. 12, 2015, at San Simeon nursing home in Greenport.  He was 93. 

He was born in Bersec, Italy, July 10, 1921, to Eugene and Catherine Forosich and served in the U.S. Army for three years during World War II. He was stationed in the Philippines and was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal and American Service Medal for his service.

On June 4, 1944, he married Lina (née Zustovich) and together they made their home in New York City. They began summering on the North Fork in 1959. In 1983 they became permanent residents and he became active in the Southold American Legion, Southold Project in Aquaculture Training, Southold Seniors and the Knights of Columbus in Cutchogue.

Mr. Forosich retired as a machinist with Consolidated Edison after 37 years of service.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Forosich is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Nadalene and Rodney Sirmons of Southold; a granddaughter, Julia Katherine Sirmons of New York City; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday, Jan. 14, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 15, Father Peter Garry and the Rev. George Gaffga officiating. Interment, with U.S. Army honors, will take place at Southold Presbyterian Cemetery.
