Booster club vice president Jeanine Warns is seeking the school board’s approval for a new fundraiser idea: A glow-in-the-dark run on the high school track.

Ms. Warns, who helped organize support for the new track that was installed last year, said her group would like to have a DJ perform in the middle of the track while participants run around wearing glow-in-the-dark items.

Instead of installing black lights, Ms. Warns suggested covering the exiting lights around the track with a material that would provide the same effect.

Fluorescent-colored hula hoops would also be available. Ms. Warns also asked to have a fair prior to nightfall with vendors in the parking lot complete with glow-in-the-dark items, a Chinese auction of gift baskets and 50/50 raffle.

After her brief presentation, school board president Jerry Diffley said her idea will be taken under advisement.

“I think there are  a number of legalities we need to check on,” he said.
