Police make pair of arrests on roadways Friday

A 26-year-old Baiting Hollow woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Mattituck  last night, Southold Town police said.

Officers observed Anastasia Yakaboski heading westbound on Route 48 in the area of Westphalia Road crossing over the solid white line into the shoulder of the roadway, according to police.

She was stopped around midnight and officers detected an odor of alcohol on her breath, police said. Ms. Yakaboski failed a standardized field sobriety test administered at the scene and was determined to be intoxicated, police said.

She was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.

• A Southold man was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs in Mattituck Friday afternoon, police said.

Officers stopped Allen Bay, 23, around 2:18 p.m. after he was observed crossing the solid white line twice on Meadow Lane, according to police. He was also stopped for had a non-illuminated license plate, police said.

Upon further investigation Mr. Bay was found to be impaired by marijuana, police said.

He was charged with driving while impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor.
