Anthony J. Zanieski

Former longtime Cutchogue resident Anthony J. Zanieski of Calverton died Jan. 13 at Stony Brook University Hospital. He was 69. 

Mr. Zanieski was born Sept. 6, 1945, in Greenport to Josephine (née Zaweski) and Alexander Zanieski and graduated from Mattituck High School in 1964. He received a culinary arts degree from Alfred State College.

For four years, Mr. Zanieski served as a cook in the U.S. Air Force, achieving the rank of sergeant.

He was a potato farmer for his family’s Cutchogue farm from 1973 to 1982. Most recently he worked as a cook for Mattituck-Cutchogue School District. He was a member of Long Island Rabbit Breeders Association.

Mr. Zanieski is survived by his daughters, Erin May, Anna Cila, and Toni Hoverkamp; and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Smith.

A memorial service was held Jan. 18 at Church of the Harvest in Riverhead.
